Don’t shrug off death! It’s our eternal life!
“For me, living is Christ and dying is gain.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
Don’t wait!
Accept Jesus!
Life is not meaningless. Every decision we make is important. Let’s not depend on a hail marry pass or buzzer-beater. We should not look for one big thing to happen in our life to fill a hole or make a difference. The only factor in life is Jesus Christ. It’s not wealth, success, influence, fame, popularity, or followers or likes on social media. We should look to make daily decisions that lead to a successful and meaningful life. Jesus helps us do that!
Good decisions over time is a great way to live life. Like The Tortoise and the Hare, the skills and abilities aren’t what wins the race. It’s the desire, persistence, attitude, endurance, and forging forward even when you are behind. Whether you are the hare with all the obvious abilities, circumstances, and position to win OR you are the tortoise with less ability, not as good of a start, and behind, you must keep your eye on what matters or you’ll get distracted. The evil one or your own evil desires will get the best of you. Life is like a race but we aren’t racing against each other. We are racing together with Jesus to win for His team. With Jesus in our life, we can use the position we are in, be where our feet are, and be used by God. Our life, no matter who we are or what we do, can matter and be a part of His team, the winning team.
“Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but w a crown that will never fade away. Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9:24-27‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
We all need God. Success and riches and influence in this life can all be waisted and most often is. It’s meaningless unless God is involved in your life.
“For nothing will be impossible with God.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:37‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
When we die, what will our life mean? I hope we will have lived it intentionally for Jesus, for His Kingdom, and not for ours. I hope for that because if we have lived for Him, He died for us and gave us life forever. We’ll never die because He died in our place.
Jesus said:
“And you are not willing to come to Me so that you may have life.” John 5:40
“A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.” John 10:10
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:16&17
When we think about death, we should not experience fear, regret, or anxiety. When we think about death, we should not experience loneliness or loss.
When we think about death, we should think about eternal life, love, and unity with others forever.
When we think about death, we should thank Jesus for eternal life.
In death, we have eternal life when we know and believe in Jesus.
Whatever you do, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.
“Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. Above all, put on love — the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12-17‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
