Remember the days of show and tell. Really it is a way for children to get to know each other better. As adults, it becomes a game of brag and tell sometimes. Sometimes without even knowing it. We post all the good stuff about our lives on social media. Recently, my kiddos were playing a sport and I took some videos. They didn’t do anything spectacular. They didn’t do anything that contributed to the game in a really positive way. They didn’t do badly, but they didn’t do great. There was nothing memorable to post about. I’ll always want to remember their sports and I’ll want to remember some of the funny things they did as they learned how to play a sport, like fielding a ball even when they were on base as a base runner.
When you have Jesus, you always have something worth posting, worth sharing, worth telling. SUBMIT AND TELL others about Him; about what He has done for you, for your loved ones, your children, your parents, your grandparents, your friends, and everyone in the world.
If you had a new business opportunity, that would come up in conversation because it’s exciting and new. If you bought a new vehicle or boat or something, that would come up in conversation because you’d show people pictures, you’d talk about using it on the weekends, you’d post something about it on social media.
With God, no matter what, you have the BEST NEWS anyone could ever hear. People who are rich and have no material needs need to hear this message just as much as people who are poor, starving, and sick.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will triumph in Yahweh; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!”
Habakkuk 3:17-18 HCSB
Can you believe the creator of the universe did this for you…
“Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”
Matthew 26:39 HCSB
He drew a short straw in life and had the assignment to suffer a horrible death, in the prime of life, after living his life perfectly for His Heavenly Father. Near the end, knowing what he had to go through, He still decided to submit to the will of His Father in Heaven.
We should do the same. As Christians, we should follow what Christ did for us.
He said to us…
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 28:19 HCSB
Tell others about Jesus Christ and what He has done for you and for them!
It’s easy to talk about politics right now and about the “left” and the “right”. Use that as an opportunity to talk about how things are so messed up because our one true Lord and Shepherd is Jesus Christ. He is our King. We just need to see it and follow Him.
It’s easy to talk about sickness right now because of the Coronavirus. We can tell others that no matter what fear or sickness may come up, we have a Father in Heaven that loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us so we could be saved from sickness, disease, even death!
It’s easy to talk about sports because of an amazing catch or play. We can bring up Jesus Christ because he’s done more than anyone and given us more reason to celebrate than any athlete ever could.
Satan has put fear in our hearts so that we won’t tell others about Jesus. Remember, the only time you can be brave is when you are afraid! Be brave!
Use what your Father gave you!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.”
2 Timothy 1:7 HCSB
Power! Love! Sound Judgement!
Next time you are fearful, know that that fear is NOT from God. God gave you the power to overcome fear or any obstacle. God gave you love so you would do good things for others and tell others about Him. God gave you sound judgment so you’d know that talking to them about Him is good. It’s the best thing you can do for others.
I hope to write more soon about ideas to know and think through that will help you be more comfortable talking to others about Jesus and telling others about Jesus.
One of the best ways is to listen to them and ask them questions. Do more listening than talking.
Next time you post something awesome about your life, I hope you’ll also include a post or message about the best thing about your life, that is you are a citizen of the Kingdom of God, a child of the one True King!
I hope you will wear your faith, share your faith, and be comfortable doing it!
