To Intend to Live is a continual effort. None of us have it figured out. If you have set out to accomplish something and have reached that goal, now what? In order to have a plan and reach for new things, you must continue to plan and live for something else, something more.
We all must do this. Myself included. This idea of Intend to Live is encouraging to me. I want to always strive to do something because if I don’t, I start to live life by accident. Time starts to go by with no purpose behind my work, my efforts, my life. I want my life to matter. I want my life to matter to God and I want my life to matter to others. Not just matter but I want my life to be representative of God and I want my life to be a blessing to others.
Prayer is one of the, if not the absolute most important action you can do in your life. If you want to be a doer of the Word of God, you must pray. If you want to be Hot and not lukewarm, you must pray. If you have a goal you want to reach whether that is memorizing scripture, building a home or a house for your family, reaching a financial goal, reaching a position in your career, accomplishing something in your life that is bigger than your vocation, fulfilling some of your purpose on earth, going on a mission trip, being a great dad or mom, being a great wife or husband, being an excellent provider for your family…whatever it is if you do it without PRAYER…fervent, intentional, direct, constant, consistent, faithful, expectant, needy, dependent, surrendering, humble, bold, thankful, appreciative, longing, loving, patient, waiting, grateful, PRAYER that is from the heart of God and about the will of God and that doesn’t put you first but puts Him first, others second, and you (me last!) last…it is in vain.
“Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain. In vain you get up early and stay up late, working hard to have enough food — yes, He gives sleep to the one He loves.”
Don’t do anything without prayer. Prayer isn’t magic. Prayer isn’t a shot in the dark. Prayer isn’t something you do in hopelessness (although anytime is a good time to pray!). Prayer is faith, hope, love. Prayer is a request and a conversation from the ALMIGHTY GOD who created everything. Prayer is asking for help from the source of all of life, the source of living water. Without God, you do everything you do, even if it is intentional, in vain…futile.
I hope you do and will pray more today and every day. To Intend to Live is to love, live, and pray diligently.
“Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17
